This modern lake retreat is framed by protected marshland and Lake Minnetonka, with the wooded shoreline of Wawatasso Island just across the water. The design balances the discipline of modernism with the warmth and character of a mountain home, creating a sense of retreat more often associated with being much farther north. Fond du Lac stone, substantial timber beams, and natural woods establish the foundation, while velvets, chenilles, cozy wools, and playful plaids bring warmth and softness to the interiors. The result is a timeless lakeside retreat…modern in form, inviting in character, and deeply rooted in its natural surroundings.
